Job Title: Accompanist (piano and organ)

 

Position Status: Part-time employment is mid-September to mid-June, 2 Sundays

a month - schedule to be arranged with Music Director and Pastor.  Possible

summer employment (up to 4 Sundays in June/July/August) and additional work

substituting for Music Director through the school year (accompaniment only). 

 

Compensation: $500 per month for 9 months mid-September through mid-June;

possible substitute accompaniment work is $175/Sunday.

Position Summary:

1. Accompany choir rehearsals and choir anthems for worship service 2x/month (includes Festival Sundays like Reformation, Christmas Eve, Easter and Pentecost).  Accompany church service hymns/liturgy on organ along with Music Director on piano (will share this responsibility with Music Director).  Cooperate and communicate regularly with Music Director and Pastor.  Report directly to Music Director. 

 

Skills Needed: Proficiency on piano and organ required.  Familiarity with Lutheran (or Protestant) church services desired but not required. Ability to cooperate and communicate needed.

 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

1. Attend, prepare and provide accompaniment for scheduled choir rehearsals (9-9:45 AM Sunday mornings) and for choir anthems during worship services 2x per month. Worship services usually take place Sunday mornings starting at 10 AM.

2. Attend, prepare and provide organ accompaniment for scheduled worship services (assignments given by Music Director).

3. Cooperate and communicate regularly with the Music Director in a spirit of collegiality and mutual respect, with the goal of contributing to the highest possible quality worship life of the congregation. 

5. Report directly to the Music Director.
